My Style: AW Calypso Silver Sequins Gown

I attended the 40th Annual Mayor’s Masked Ball in Atlanta on Saturday night! When I think of attending a grand affair like this, I think of glamour and sparkle! I quickly went to thinking what I wanted to wear for this grand affair and how I wanted my hair and makeup.

Usually for formal events, consider wearing a classic evening gown depending. Choose elegant accessories and make sure your attire aligns with the event’s dress code, if specified.

When styling a formal gown you want to have the right statement as well.

Accessorize: Add statement jewelry, such as herrings or necklace but avoid overdoing it. A clutch and matching shoes can complement your look. I found the perfect sparkly earrings to complete my look, they added that extra touch!

Hairstyle: Consider an updo for a sophisticated look or loose waves for a more relaxed feel. The choice depends on the gown’s neckline and your personal style. My daughter Tyra first had my hair in an updo, but I decided to let the curls flow and wore it down.

Makeup: Coordinate your makeup with your gown. Bold lips or smokey eyes can enhance your overall appearance but maintain balance to avoid an overwhelming look. Chiquita (Mz Red Carpet) my makeup artist worked her magic and kept my makeup looking soft but sexy!

Fit and Tailoring: Ensure the gown fits well; tailoring may be necessary. A well-fitted gown enhances your silhouette and adds to the overall elegance. I ran into a small problem with my dress. It arrived and was just a tad too big. I ran up to my seamstress Sharon (Sharon’s Tailoring & Custom Alterations) who did a great job of altering my sequins gown for me! The straps were too long and the waist area.

Consider the Event: Tailor your style to the formality of the event. Classic styles often work well for formal occasions, but you can add personal touches to make it unique. I added a fur stole with my dress, it gave my outfit a bit of drama!
